It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lillian Elizabeth Garay, a cherished soul who touched the lives of many with her kindness, compassion, and grace. Lillian departed this world on December 14, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and beautiful memories.

Born in the heart of New York City, New York, Lillian’s journey took her to Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 2019, where she found a new home and community. Lillian embraced her new surroundings with an open heart, and her presence illuminated the lives of those around her.

Lillian is preceded in death by her loving parents, Julio and Margarita Garay; her dear brother, Julio Garay; and her sister, Maria Fernandez. Their memories will forever be entwined with the rich tapestry of Lillian’s life.

Lillian is survived by her husband, Angel Soto; sons: Carlos Gonzalez (Shila), Christopher Gonzalez (Tammy), Robert Soto; sisters: Margie Hagen (Garay) and Cookie Torchia (Garay); and brother, David Garay. She has 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A woman of profound strength and resilience, Lillian’s spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the stories shared by friends and family, a testament to a life well-lived and a heart that knew how to love unconditionally.

A visitation will be held at Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910 on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. The graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expressway, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903 on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 10:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to John Zay House, Penrose-St. Francis Hospital Foundation, 2222 North Nevada Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907.

Lillian Elizabeth Garay will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May she find eternal peace, reunited with those who went before her, and may her legacy continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved her.
