Marguerite Christiane Barras – October 14, 2026

Marguerite Christiane Barras, born Marguerite Christiane Chevrier on August 7, 1937, went to be with the Lord on October 14, 2026.

Born and raised in Sarrebourg, France, Christiane witnessed many events of World War II during her childhood, including seeing Adolf Hitler in a parade in her hometown.

Christiane met Frank Barras, a member of the United States Air Force stationed in a nearby town, while living in France. Their courtship led to a marriage that spanned 70 years, during which they built a life together and raised three children.

As Frank continued his Air Force service, the family made homes in Sarrebourg, France; Salina, Kansas; Toul-Rosières, France; and St. Martinville, Louisiana, where Christiane and the children lived while Frank served in Vietnam. They later lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Wiesbaden, Germany, before eventually settling in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Christiane was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose family held a special place in her heart. She was known for her cooking and her mastery of languages—gifts that reflected her French roots and the life she lived across countries and cultures. Her family and friends will remember these talents as a distinctive part of who she was.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Frank; their three children, Frank Jr., Therese, and Monique, and their spouses; 6 surviving grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one of her seven grandchildren.

Christiane will be remembered for the life she built alongside Frank, her love for her family, her gifts in the kitchen and with languages, and the memories she leaves with those who knew and loved her.

A rosary will be held at 10:30AM, followed immediately by a funeral service at 11:00AM, on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at St Joseph Catholic Church, 1830 South Corona Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80905. Christiane will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery.
