With deep love, we announce the passing of Mark Allen Goodwin, age 71, of Waxahachie, TX, on August 7, 2026. He was born on August 21, 1954, in Geneva, NY to Robert and June Goodwin. Mark was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He endured a long and difficult battle with MS, yet through it all, he never lost his remarkable positive outlook on life. His strength, courage, and unwavering optimism inspired everyone around him. Even in the face of adversity, he continued to find reasons to smile, laugh, and make others feel loved and valued.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Goodwin and his two daughters, Sarah Houston and Kimberly Ketchem (Matt Ketchem), along with four grandchildren, Logan Goodwin, Lane Ketchem, Jacolby Houston, and Brynn Ketchem.
Mark was a truly remarkable man – positive, generous, honorable, respectable, and deeply endearing. To those who knew him, he was someone special, and it seemed that everyone who crossed his path came to love him.
He had a quick sense of humor and a way of bringing lightness and laughter wherever he went. More than anything, he had a generous heart. He made people feel welcome, valued, and included, never allowing anyone to feel like they were on the outside looking in. His kindness, warmth, and genuine deep love for his family and others left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910. Private inurnment will take place later at the St. John Paul II Columbarium in Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum’s Olympian Legacy Gardens.
