1942 – 2023
Martha “Marty” L. Nelson, of Colorado Springs, went to be with her Savior and Lord on Good Friday, April 7, 2023, at the age of 80.
Born in Sioux City, Iowa, she was the only child of the late Dayle and Marion Berry.
Martha received her master’s degree in school counseling from the University of Northwestern in Illinois and enjoyed a long career as a teacher and counselor at Talbott Elementary until her retirement.
She is survived by her adopted daughter, Michelle “Mikki” Millhouse; and numerous close friends she embraced as family.
Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gregory Nelson.
A private interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery.

30 May 2025I was a classmate of Marty at Northern Illinois University when we were working on our MSEd degrees .
I am so sorry for your loss as I consider Marty and friend in our class of 15 or so.

30 May 2025I forgot to mention that I am a 1964 Grad from the University of Iowa. I didn’t ask Marty where she graduated from college…..but note that she was born in Sioux City where I had some friends from that town.
