The Great Adventure

Mary “Hope” Knight, 83, passed away on January 17th, 2022.  She was a resident of Colorado Springs for more than 50 years.  She worked as care provider, lab technician, and veterinary assistant.  

Hope was born on November 26, 1938 to Allan McDonnell and Margaret McDonnell (Hatto).  She was divorced after a short marriage and never remarried.  

Hope was fond of nature, animals, and travel.  She had an appreciation for the wonder of wildlife.  She attended high school and some college, ultimately choosing to work in service to others. 

Hope is survived by her siblings Alicia McDonnell, and Richard McDonnell (Marley). She has many nieces and nephews: Dawn Jenks (Cory); Kellie Moran (Margaret); and Dan Moran (Ashley).  She has many great nieces and nephews including: Travis, Moranna, and Colton (Jenks); Riley (Zook-Moran); and Jordan, Raigyn, McKenna, Gracie, and Ryan (Moran).  Hope was preceded in death by her brothers Allan “Barry” and Michael McDonnell, parents Allan and Margaret McDonnell, and many animals she cared for including: Tammy, Judge, Kaylee, Shea, Tess, Mikey, Snow, and many others.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, January 25th, 2022 at Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO.   Services will be held in the “America the Beautiful” Chapel.  Scattering of Hope’s ashes will take place at a later date.  The service will be live streamed on Zoom, as well as recorded.
