
Matthew Paul Steele, 38 years old, passed away on June 29, 2026. He was a lifelong resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He worked as a Truck Dispatcher, Salesman, and Handyman.
Matthew was born on March 25, 1988, to David Paul Steele and Brenda Sue Steele (Schell) in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Matt loved cooking and the creativity of inventing new sauces and flavors. He enjoyed hiking and camping, playing video games, and following professional sports — especially the Broncos and Nuggets. He loved animals, especially his cats, with which he seemed to have a special connection. He graduated from Pine Creek High School in 2006, where he was a member of the swim team and the wrestling team, and later took classes at Pikes Peak State College.
He is survived by his parents, David and Brenda Steele; his sister, Michelle Olson Steele, and her husband, Branden Olson Steele; his grandmother, Joan Ruth Schell; his niece, Ada Olson Steele; and his daughter, Harmony Hazel Cleverley. Matthew was preceded in death by his three grandparents: Andrew Schell, Paul Steele, and Judith Steele.
Matt was laid to rest July 13, 2026, in the Evergreen Cemetery here in Colorado Springs with his immediate family present.
A Celebration of Life for Matthew will be held September 26, 2026. It will be in the Black Forest Community Center, which is the perfect location for Matt since he lived just a mile away from there for 25 years and loved the Black Forest.
