Mildred “Millie” Angeline Stephenson, born February 16, 1932, passed away on February 3, 2024, just prior to her 92nd birthday. As a military wife, she lived in many places within the states and Germany. She was a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado, for 54 years. Millie was a dedicated spouse, loving mother and homemaker. She provided daycare in her home for quite a few years and loved those children as her own.

Millie was born to Charles William Nelson and Elda (Hanna) Nelson in St. Thomas, North Dakota. Her family later moved to Chico, California, where she met her husband, Robert “Bob” Stephenson, in high school when she was 16 years old. At 18 years of age, they married on September 3, 1950, and remained married for 62 years, until Bob’s passing in October 2012. She worked as a legal secretary until the death of her first baby, Diane, who died at 15 months on Millie’s 22nd birthday. After the loss of their first child, they decided Millie would stay home when they had more children. Millie also grew closer to the Lord after Diane died, and she became more involved in church and Bible study. She and Bob attended church together regularly.

Millie is survived by her brother, Jerry; her children: Michelle and Renée (Joe); her grandchildren: Channing (Steve), Dalton, Jordan (Michael), Kendell, Ethan, Jared and Riley; her great-grandchildren: Lincoln, Brayden, Logan, Hayden, Carter and another one on the way. She was preceded in death by her sister, Vivian; her brothers: Virgil and Rodney; her daughter, Diane; and her son, Michael.

Our mom had a very sweet disposition and was very loving and caring toward others. Dementia took over her brain and slowly consumed her life. We are excited that our mom is now reunited with our family that passed before her to include little Diane and Michael.

We will be placing our mom’s ashes, together with our dad’s ashes, at the Pikes Peak National (Veterans) Cemetery.

A Memorial Service for our mom will be held at 1:00 pm, February 16, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church, 219 East Bijou Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903 (Weber Street entrance).
