It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of Monte Kuntz. On November 20th, Monte unexpectedly passed away at his home in Black Forest, Colorado.

He was born on February 4, 1960, in Yuma, Colorado to George and Rozella Kuntz.

Monte was a loving and dedicated family man who worked hard to provide a stable and happy life for his family.  He was also an avid guitarist and loved fabricating, fishing, hunting, vanning, hot rods, his Harley Davidson, farming, his emotional support goat (soul goat) Frik, and all his fur family.

Most of all he loved and cherished his wife, Janine Anne (Roman) Kuntz, and both of his biological sons, Brandon and Dustin. To say he and Janine were soul mates is an understatement. They were married for 23 years, 9 months, and 4 days and had been friends for more than 38 years in total.  It goes without saying, his loss leaves a profound gap in Janine’s life.

Kids were his heart.  Monte and Janine together helped raise numerous children throughout the years. Among these are Savannah and Brent Howarth (sister and brother), Jeremy Rajkowski (wife Amber), and David Daly.

Monte was a kind person and no matter where he went, he never met a stranger.  His kind spirit left an everlasting mark on all who had the privilege of crossing his path. He was a jolly giant and larger than life with one of the biggest hearts of anyone and a fantastic sense of humor. He would give you the shirt off his back. To know him was to know real friendship. Janine and Monte were described as true “salt of the earth” people. They were together widely recognized as the best of people; kind, honest, hardworking, genuine, and loving. They would (and did) do anything for anyone.

Monte is survived by his wife; his two sons; and his sister, Marsha Dunkin (husband Rick).  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may contact Janine Kuntz directly if you would like to assist with Monte’s final expenses.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2024, and a Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024, both at Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910.  A reception will follow immediately after the service on December 14, at Tri-Lakes Chamber of Commerce, 166 2nd St., Monument, CO 80132.
