Neil Klockziem was born in Casper, Wyoming, on September 28, 1941. He entered eternal life in Colorado Springs on May 17, 2025, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Following graduation from the University of Nebraska-Omaha, Neil landed his first job in television as a Technical Director at KRDO TV and moved to Colorado Springs in January of 1965.
He advanced into sales and was promoted to General Manager of KRDO Radio and Television (Channel 13) in 1979, a position he held until his retirement in 2007. In addition to his long and successful career in local broadcasting, Neil had served as a volunteer for many local events and charities including the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo Board, the Festival of Lights Committee, the Pikes Peak Hill Climb, the Local USO and the UC Memorial Hospital volunteers.
His personal faith gave him great strength in later years as he endured multiple lengthy medical treatments. He and wife Sandy were regularly found in church on Sunday mornings, attending First Christian and later Rocky Mountain Calvary. He sang in the church choir and had even performed solo.
Neil is survived by his wife of fifty years, Sandy (Daniels). They shared three sons: Jeff Klockziem, Timothy Klockziem and Bob Olson; and three daughters: Taunya Mann, Dawna Shevock and Kim Eurek. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and many longtime friends and colleagues.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910.
