Richard Paul Oveson, age 65, passed away on January 2, 2022.  He was a resident of Colorado Springs since 1988 and was formerly a resident of Salt Lake City, Utah. He earned an associate degree in Criminal Justice from Pikes Peak Community College. As a US Army veteran, Richard served in Germany for two years during the fall of the Berlin Wall. Richard also worked as a security officer at the Fine Arts Center, Colorado College, Walter Drake and Lockheed Martin.

Richard was born on October 24, 1956, to Darwin and Wynona (Ward) Oveson in Salt Lake City, Utah. 

Richard is survived by his sons: Paul, David, Jacob, James, and Peter Oveson; his brothers: Neal, Dale, Edward, Kelly, and Brian Oveson, and older brother Tom W. (wife Nancy J.) Oveson of Santaquin; his sister: Sharon Bills; and his loving companion of 34 years: Sandy Yowell.  He is also survived by four grandchildren, Steven, Allison, Natalie, and Tiella. 

Richard was preceded in death by his daughter: Leah Oveson and his parents: Darwin Neals and Wynona (Ward) Oveson.       

The family will be holding a Celebration of Life on January 28, 5-7 pm at LDS church at 3495 w 4850 s Taylorsville, Utah. Inurnment will occur at Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 20, 2022. 

Memorials in honor of Richard may be made to the American Cancer Society.
