1942 – 2024

Robert “Bob” Lynn Morgan was born on September 27, 1942, in Denver, Colorado and passed away at home in Colorado Springs, Colorado on April 5, 2024.  He was adopted as a baby by his parents, Harry and Ruth (Hudson) Morgan and raised in the farming community of Ordway, Colorado. He married his high school sweetheart, Linda Newhouser, on December 14, 1963, in Ordway. They were the parents of two sons, Don (Heather) Morgan of Colorado Springs and Dean (Andrea) Morgan of Hartsel, Colorado. Bob was the beloved grandpa to Michael, Cora, Dixie, Elanor, and Shelby Morgan. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Sharon (Chuck) Scherer.

Bob graduated from Ordway High School in 1960. He received Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in Music Education from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. He taught instrumental music in the Platte Valley School District in Kersey, Colorado for two years (1964-1966) and then in the Harrison School District in Colorado Springs for 30 years (1966-1996). He directed the district’s All School Honor Band and frequently taught summers in the Cheyenne Mountain District and in the Air Academy District. Bob was a member of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonians, Phi Beta Mu International Band Master’s Fraternity, and the American School Band Directors Association.

Bob was a member of Village Seven Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs for 50 years. He served as a deacon, elder, Sunday school teacher, and Bible school teacher, and was a member of the church orchestra and choir for many years. He also served on the school board for Evangelical (now Evangel) Christian Academy.

Bob loved to fish and camp in the Colorado mountains and found great joy in photographing wildflowers. With Linda he visited all 50 U.S. states as well as several countries in Europe and the Caribbean. A life-long learner, he audited classes at New Geneva Theological Seminary, researched and studied history, and was an avid reader. Bob devoted hours of time to Bible reading and to daily prayer, always for his family and for others all over the world.

A Memorial Service for Bob will be held at Village Seven Presbyterian Church on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 2:00 pm in the sanctuary.

This Obituary Has 8 Condolences

  1. My condolences, to you Linda and your family! God will bless you in many ways you don’t expect.
I will write you a letter later.

  2. We remember Bob with great love and respect! He was very talented and an amazing man of GOD. His love for his family (his dear bride Linda, his son’s and their families) and for all those he knew shined as a beacon to so many.
I miss his Godly counsel and prayer for me and my family by phone. We lift Linda and all her family in prayer for peace, comfort and wonderful remembrances of their life with Bob!❤️‍🩹🙏✝️

  3. Bob was a greeter in Happy Daze and was always so thoughtful. I know his prayer ministry for Happy Daze benefited many, myself included. Such a godly man who loved the Lord and was of service at every turn. It is with heartfelt sadness that we will not have him here, but it is glorious that he is out of pain and in heaven with Jesus! Linda, his helpmeet, walked beside him through the joyous and difficult days — he was the man he was, too, because of his love for her and her ministry to him. May God comfort you, Linda, and everyone in your family.

  4. Linda, you and Bob were such a loving and gracious ministry team. You two were a blessing to Geri and me the years we were at V7PC.
When “Truths That Transform’ was available at V7PC Bob and I alternated teaching it. It was a joy and privilege to have worked with him.
I has been 8 months since the Lord took my beloved Geri to Himself. I don’t know if she and Bob might now be remembering together those wonderful years at V7PC. Someday we will join them.
May you know the Shalom that comes from your Heavenly Father.
    Rev Don Pegler (retired)

  5. As I remember Bob, I think of Philemon 1:4-7:
“I thank my God always, making mention of you in my prayers, because I hear of your love and of the faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all the saints; and I pray that the fellowship of your faith may become effective through the knowledge of every good thing which is in you for Christ’s sake. For I have come to have much joy and comfort in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you, brother.”
Bob was a choice servant of Christ. How often he has encouraged my heart and the hearts of my parents. Bob was a gift to all the saints at V7PC. He will be dearly missed. Sweet Linda, I can’t imagine the depth of your loss, after 60+ years of Bob at your side. If ever you want to take a stroll with me in the sun, or share a cup of coffee at my house at the bottom of your hill, I would welcome you. Whether it is a good day or a very deeply sad day, there is no pretense needed. I am so grateful for the wonderful kids and grandkids that have loved you well. I celebrate Bob’s life lived for Christ, while praying for all those left behind. I love you, Linda.

  6. We send our sympathies to you, Linda and the family. We remember playing in the church orchestra with Bob. What a sweet man.

  7. Bob has been a Best Friend Forever going back to our high school days…so many wonderful memories We grew up together and have remained friends over the years and miles. He will surely be missed and fondly remembered I look forward to our reunion in glory when we gather together around God’s throne

  8. Oh, Morgan family, I was so sad to hear of Bob’s passing. He was always such a kind and servant hearted person. He will be missed! God be near you all as you adjust to this loss!
