August 30, 1938 – May 31, 2025
Robert Richard Resch, 86, of Colorado Springs, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025 with his family by his side. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Bob lived a full and meaningful life rooted in faith, family, and service.
Born on August 30, 1938, Bob dedicated 35 years of his career to IBM as a Field Service Engineer in Walnut Creek, California. His excellence and dedication were recognized with numerous honors, including three IBM Means Service Awards, two Focus Awards, and seven Branch Awards. After retiring from IBM at age 54, he continued to serve others through his work with the Kaiser Foundation from 1992-1997 as a systems lead programmer. There, he earned special recognition and a cash award for his leadership in completing the ESCON conversion project an impressive 17 months ahead of schedule, reflecting his commitment to both quality and cost-effective service.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Alice Marie Resch; his children: Beverly Resch of San Francisco, Brenda Hansen (husband Bob Joseph) of Santa Cruz California, and Robert Resch (wife Kristin Resch) of Colorado Springs. He was also a devoted stepfather to Tod Cusick of Pueblo, Annette Cusick Freeburg of Colorado Springs, and Alicia Hulme of Colorado Springs. Bob was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and great-grandfather to six. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Emma Resch and two sisters, Mary Caffee and Alice Mulkey, and is lovingly remembered by his five surviving siblings: Thomas, Bill, Jenny, Betty, and Cathy.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in fishing and hunting, and he was a passionate reader who never stopped learning. A man of deep Christian faith, Bob cherished his family above all and was deeply loved in return. His loyal dog Daisy, whom he rescued and nurtured back to health, passed away just weeks before him on May 2, 2025—an inseparable companion who brought him much comfort and joy.
Bob’s legacy of kindness, integrity, and faith will live on in all who knew and loved him. A private memorial service will be held later this summer.
