SGM Roger Martin Binion, U.S. Army (Ret.) was welcomed into the arms of his Savior on September 17, 2026. We are certain he heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Roger was born in Lockbourne, Ohio, to Theodore and Anna (Ferguson) Binion, one of ten children, including his twin sisters and his twin brother. Through a series of moves, he eventually arrived in Morris, Illinois, where he attended Morris High School and met the love of his life, Barbara Bradish. They married shortly after graduation, began their life’s journey hand in hand, and recently celebrated 65 years of love.
Roger proudly served for more than 24 years in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. Throughout his distinguished career, he received numerous awards and commendations, including the Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medal. After retiring from the military, Roger continued his service to his country through the United States Postal Service, where he worked for over 25 years.
Roger enjoyed bowling, golfing, Johnny Cash, and puttering in the yard. He loved animals and had something special that drew them to him. The birds waited every morning for him to bring them fresh water. He was an unwavering fan of the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; six siblings—Roy, Ruth, Mildred, Nancy, Harry, and Ronald; his mother‑in‑law, Gladys Wicks; and his beloved granddaughter, Emily.
He is survived by his devoted wife and partner, Barbara; daughters Toni (Bryan) and Joanna; granddaughter Elizabeth (Dmitriy); great‑granddaughter Calle (Isaiah); sisters Lillian and Evelyn; brother Ralph Binion; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, with special thoughts for the family of his sister, Ruth Glenn.
Services will be held at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 East Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs 80910, on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. The viewing will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by the service at 12:30 p.m. The later graveside service will take place privately.
