Sandra Lou Sutton was originally named Jorretta Ann Cox, born to Dona Ethel Cox, on December 1, 1944 at Peoples Hospital in Akron, Ohio. Shortly after her birth, she was adopted, raised, and loved by Clyde and Ida Sutton (Greissing). She resided in Ohio until her marriage to Roger Grey. They eventually settled and divorced in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Later, Sandi moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado to be closer to family. Sandi is survived by her children: Mariann (Kenneth) Rosenquest of Florida, Thomas (Carmen) Grey of Illinois, and Jennifer (Sean) White of Colorado; her grandchildren: December (Royal), Billy, Drew, Anna, Sammy, Sarah, Claire, Ella, Alex, Carter, and great grandson, Micah; her aunt: Ella Mae Sutton; and many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Clyde and Ida Sutton; her daughter: Maureen King; her aunts and uncles: Roy Sutton, Walter Greissing, Philip and Caroline Haury, William and Dorothy Cunningham; and her cousins: Barbara and Charles Yost and Carol and John Starner. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a memorial service will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to one of the following organizations very close to Sandi’s heart:

Illinois Valley Young Life: Young Life, P.O. Box 83, Princeton, IL 61356

Safe Place For Pets: 1520 N. Hancock Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80903

Sisters of St Francis Companion Retreat Fund, 7665 Assisi Heights, Colorado Springs, CO 80919

Time spent with her own family, church family, personal devotion and quiet time, and her relationship with Jesus was an enormous part of Sandi’s life. She believed in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

This Obituary Has 4 Condolences

  1. Jen, just found out about Sandi, so sorry to hear. Praying for you and family. She was special.

  2. What a sweet soul she was. We’ll see each other soon, Sandi❣️

  3. Mama Sandi, even though I only knew you for a short amount of time, I instantly fell in love with you. I wish we could have spent more time together, but I know we will meet again. In addition to your family, please watch over me and my family as well. Rest in your peaceful place and in God’s loving arms.

    Until we meet again,
    Kesha

  4. While we met your mom a few times, and we heard about all of you, you were all very much loved by your grandparents, Ida and Clyde. They became surrogate grandparents to our sons and dear adopted parents to us. We had the privilege of living next door to them in Akron. May God bless all of you at this time! Love, Bill and Diane Holko
