Shirley Ann Spaid passed away peacefully on March 15, 2012.

Shirley was born in Limon, Colorado to Huey and Alnore (Knutson) Bandy and graduated from Limon High School. She married her high school sweetheart, (Albert) Ted Spaid, on September 7, 1963. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1964 where Ted began his career as an elementary teacher in District 11. Shirley was employed for many years at Digital Electronics and also for several years as a teacher’s aide.

Shirley loved to crochet and sew, especially for family members and charities. She also enjoyed bowling and was a league bowler for over 40 years. Ted and Shirley traveled to all 50 states, Canada, and Mexico, taking great pleasure in car and train trips.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ted; her son, Ted III (Cathy); her daughter, Lynnette Contreras (Gene); and five grandchildren: Dominic, Derric, David, Kylie and Danielle. She is also survived by her mother; one brother, Ted Bandy (Pat) of Limon; three sisters: LaVerne Bandy (Graham), Helen Bandy (Rick), and Wanda Britain (Jim); and a half-brother, Gene Bandy (Pat); along with many nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Huey, Jr.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. A reception will follow at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 South Union Boulevard.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Stroke Association at www.heart.org are preferred.
