Shirley Maxine Scott, age 92, went to be with Jesus her Savior on July 20, 2026. She lived in Colorado Springs for 57 years.
She was born on March 31, 1934, in Decatur, Illinois, to Clyde and Pearl Hester. Shirley has an identical twin, Phyllis Justus. The twins started singing at age 5 and even sang on the radio.
Shirley was married to Bill Scott in 1951 in Decatur, Illinois. Shirley and Bill served as Pastors and laymen for the majority of their lives in the Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed singing, teaching children, and being in charge of VBS. In her early years she worked as a personal aid in baby wards, ER rooms, and nursing homes.
Shirley is survived by her twin, Phyllis Justus; four children: Debra Scott, Randy (Debbie) Scott, Penny Scott, and Craig (Lorna) Scott; eleven grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband and her two siblings.
A public visitation in honor of Shirley will be held from 4:00-6:00PM, Thursday, July 30 , 2026, at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. Private burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. She is in heaven hugging Jesus.
