Terry Lee Mason – October 1, 2026

Terry Lee Mason, age 74, passed away on October 1, 2026. A lifelong Colorado resident, Terry spent much of his life in Colorado Springs and also lived in Denver, Fort Collins, and other communities throughout the state.

Terry spent much of his career in men’s clothing and menswear, including serving as Vice President of KG Menswear. He later worked as manager of the Tailor Shop at the United States Air Force Academy.

Terry was born on July 8, 1952, to Thomas Mason and Thelma (Hornback) Mason in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He attended Wasson High School in Colorado Springs, graduating in 1970, and later attended both the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs and the University of California, San Diego.

Terry had a lifelong love of the outdoors and especially enjoyed hiking and camping throughout Colorado. Powderhorn was his favorite place to hike, and the Colorado mountains remained a special part of his life. He also had a genuine curiosity about the people he met along the way. Terry was known for greeting people with a warm smile, striking up conversations with strangers, and often asking whether they were from Colorado.

Terry was a devoted Colorado sports fan, especially of the Colorado Avalanche and Denver Broncos. He rarely missed an Avalanche game, followed the team closely, knew the players and what was happening throughout the season, and often spoke about them with the familiarity and enthusiasm of someone who felt like he was part of the team himself.

Terry was a man of Christian faith who loved the Lord and sought to live a good and faithful life. His faith was something he carried personally through prayer and music. He especially enjoyed listening to Christian songs, learning to play them on the guitar, and practicing along with the recordings. He pursued a meaningful relationship with the Lord through prayer, and God was always at the forefront of his life.

Terry is survived by his children, Jessica Mason and Geoffrey Mason; and his sisters, Susan and Debbie Mason, sister and brother-in-law Sheri and Jim Metzger; nephews Jeremy Mason, Brian Metzger, and Mike Metzger, nieces Robin Metzger and Mallarie Johnson; great nephew Isaiah Metzger; and great nieces, Faith Metzger and Paislee, Penny, and Piper Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Thelma Mason, and his brother, Doug Mason.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910.

Terry will be cremated following the service. His family plans to honor his love of the Colorado outdoors by returning his ashes to Powderhorn, a place that held special meaning for him, in a private family remembrance at a later date.
